My boys...

So, I think we are close to finishing the backyard! This summer and fall we have added a fence, arbor, fountain, landscaping, and a fire pit. The pit is my favorite part! Scott has worked so very hard to make me happy. We decided Sunday evening was the perfect autumn night to christen the fire pit with S'MORES! Julie and her boys, Cooper and Eli, came over, along with Davey, Natalie, Tanya, Greg, Logan, and Lucas. Every one had a great time!

Summer Days with the Boys

One of the great parts of being a teacher is the summer! Since I am afforded this luxury it allows me some extra time to enjoy my nephews Logan and Lucas. In the past couple of weeks we have headed to the City Park in Burlington a couple of times and to splash around in my mother-in-laws pool. Here are a few pics to sum up our excursions..WHEEEE!! Lucas on the slide...

Apparently, Lucas wanted to use the hairdryer that morning. Hence, the bad hair
day!

Playing ball at the park!

Tanya was attempting to create some shade...

Logan looked like a dog with a cone on his head... Lucas is all boy...too cute!

Gaston Lake

The weekend of July 11th we headed to Gaston Lake with Matt and Joy. Scott's parents got a new boat last year and so they gave us the old one, and when I say old, I mean old....

Hence the name I have given it, the U.S.S. P.O.S. but hey, it was free!
While on this "fishing vessel", as Scott likes to call it, we often "noodle" for catfish. This involves using a contraption of pvc, swimming noodles, fishing line, and bait to catch catfish. These "noodles" are dropped in a line and then you wait to see one pop up from a fish tugging on it. I like to compare it to a mini dealiest catch. We caught several and enjoyed a delicious meal of baked catfish, homemade hushpuppies, and corn on the cob! Here are a few pics from the weekend...

3rd Annual Teague 4th of July Cookout!

Lucky for us we had a fairly laid back 4th unlike previous ones...

We grilled played cornhole and ladder golf and enjoyed the company of great neighbors and friends!
